Making the most of life in Berkshire and beyond.

Jodie - Maidenhead Mum

Hi, thanks for visiting ‘Maidenhead Mum’

Here you’ll find posts and reviews about my life here in Maidenhead with two small children. I write about a broad selection of subjects, from family friendly restaurants, things to do at half term and even where to go on ‘date night’ in Maidenhead and the surrounding areas. I’m always looking for new ideas and experiences so please get in touch if you’d like to share your story on the blog.

#lovemaidenhead – Join in with the community hashtag project

Putting Maidenhead on the Map

In 2016, I started tagging my photos of Maidenhead on Instagram with #lovemaidenhead and encouraged the community to get involved. The hashtag has now been used over 1000 times!  All you have to do is take a photo of something you love in and around Maidenhead, share it on Instagram and use the hashtag #lovemaidenhead. It doesn’t have to be a photographic masterpiece, just something you snap on your phone. There’s no need to limit yourself to things in the centre of town, it can be anything within a short distance of Maidenhead that you have the privilege to enjoy as a Maidenhead resident.  I’ll do a regular roundup of 9 photos with the #lovemaidenhead tag and share on my ‘Maidenhead Mum’ Instagram and Maidenhead Mum Facebook page.

If you want to see more images of Maidenhead, why not buy my Maidenhead calendar which has over 40 images of Maidenhead and includes all of the community dates for the rest of the year. Just click on the calendar section here on my site or visit the Craft Coop shop in town to buy one.

Twelve things to do in Maidenhead before you’re two.

When you have children, or when you have friends and family visiting with children, it suddenly dawns on you that you need some very specific knowledge about Maidenhead. You might know that there’s a park at the end of the road… but where do you go if it’s raining? Or how do you know if the activities are the right level for their age group?...

A non-gardener’s guide to visiting the Chelsea Flower Show

When I was younger, the ultimate torture that my mum could inflict was to make me watch Gardener’s World. It was just soooo boring! And to be fair, despite now being a homeowner with a decent sized garden, I’m still not really that interested in flowers and plants. I have one raised flower bed in my garden, and I’ve established a ‘Darwinism’ style of gardening....

Discovering nature in Maidenhead on The Green Way.

Picture the scene: the sun was shining, the eldest was at school, and my husband and I were at home with our soon-to-be-two little boy. Regular readers of the blog will know that I’m a firm believer in ‘little adventures’: I love to plot day trips to beaches, castles, beautiful towns… anywhere to inspire the mind and lift the soul. (Especially if there is a...

Should you buy a mirrorless camera? The Fuji XT2 reviewed

Lots of people ask me about which camera they should buy and people are often curious about which camera I use for the photography on the blog so I thought it was time to share a few secrets. My husband always teases me that I can babble endlessly about cameras and photography so I should warn you all that this post has LOTS of information about...

Time for tea: a visit to the Wedgwood Tea Conservatory

It’s not often that I find myself childfree in London these days unless it’s for work. Last weekend, a good friend of mine invited me to the Chelsea Flower Show, and on the way back from the show we stopped off on the Kings Road as I was keen to see some of the floral displays that the shops had created as part of the annual...

Maidenhead’s closest beach? West Wittering explored.

We’re pretty blessed living in Maidenhead as we have so many areas right on our doorstep and the south coast is tantalisingly close. I often hear people from Maidenhead rave about West Wittering beach so when we found ourselves staying nearby I thought we should check it out. Here’s everything you need to know: What is it? West Wittering beach is a beautiful stretch of...

Learn with me

As an established blogger and photographer, I now also run short, informal training courses to help small businesses learn how to use content marketing and blogging to engage with their customers. And, seeing as photography has always been such a big part of my blog and my life, I also run sessions on how to take great photos with your smartphone, a question I get asked a lot!
