Sharing my experiences and adventures in Berkshire and beyond

Jodie - Maidenhead Mum

Hi, thanks for visiting ‘Maidenhead Mum’

Here you’ll find posts and reviews about my life here in Maidenhead with two small children. I write about a broad selection of subjects, from family friendly restaurants, things to do at half term and even where to go on ‘date night’ in Maidenhead and the surrounding areas. I’m always looking for new ideas and experiences so please get in touch if you’d like to share your story on the blog.

With Maidenhead going through a period of change with the imminent Crossrail development, it’s quite common to see empty units appear in the Nicholson shopping centre. But if you’ve been in town recently, you may have spotted something a little bit different in the window of the old Fineweave Carpet shop (round the corner from Clarks). Bespoke, unique, and made by local crafters and businesses,...

Learn with me

As an established blogger and photographer, I now also run short, informal training courses to help small businesses learn how to use content marketing and blogging to engage with their customers. And, seeing as photography has always been such a big part of my blog and my life, I also run sessions on how to take great photos with your smartphone, a question I get asked a lot!

You can find out more about either of these courses using the contact form or by emailing me: info@maidenheadmum.co.uk

Putting Maidenhead on the Map

I’d like as many people in Maidenhead to get involved. All you have to do is take a photo of something you love in and around Maidenhead, share it on Instagram and use the hashtag #lovemaidenhead. It doesn’t have to be a photographic masterpiece, just something you snap on your phone. There’s no need to limit yourself to things in the centre of town, it can be anything within a short distance of Maidenhead that you have the privilege to enjoy as a Maidenhead resident.  I’ll do a regular roundup of 9 photos with the #lovemaidenhead tag and share on my ‘Maidenhead Mum’ Instagram and Maidenhead Mum Facebook page.

Odds Farm at Easter: a Review

I often wonder what the Little Lady will be when she grows up. Instead of having a room full of dolls, she has already amassed a bed full of cuddly animals that she treasures dearly. (Woe betide me if I try and steal any away!) So when Odds Farm invited me to visit in return for a feature on the blog, I was keen to...

6 Networking tips for Newbie entrepreneurs

In March on International Women’s Day, I went along to a Maidenhead Business Girls meet up to meet some more of the Maidenhead Business Girls. It was a double celebration as it was also the second birthday of the group and it made me realise that I had been a member for a whole 12 months. Looking back I remember that I was so nervous about...

Eat On The High Street launches in Maidenhead

Here on the Maidenhead Mum blog I love to hear about things that are supporting Maidenhead. I’d seen the posters for ‘Eat on the High Street’ around town, but it wasn’t until I bumped into one of the organisers at a Maidenhead Business Girls meet up that I understood just how good an idea it was. Shop local, eat local? With a name like ‘Eat...

Me, Mine and Maidenhead: February update

This week there has been a lot of chatter in the press about toddler tantrums and parenting styles so it feels particularly apt that my family photo I’m sharing for the February ‘Me and Mine’ project is a little bit different to the usual happy, smiley family photo I would usually take. Farewell February February seems to have flown by for us in a haze/daze...
