Making the most of life in Berkshire and beyond.

Jodie - Maidenhead Mum

Hi, thanks for visiting ‘Maidenhead Mum’

Here you’ll find posts and reviews about my life here in Maidenhead with two small children. I write about a broad selection of subjects, from family friendly restaurants, things to do at half term and even where to go on ‘date night’ in Maidenhead and the surrounding areas. I’m always looking for new ideas and experiences so please get in touch if you’d like to share your story on the blog.

Show why you #lovemaidenhead and win. Family Friendly / Maidenhead

Way back at the beginning of the year I had a little idea. As I scrolled through my instagram feed I realised that there were very few photos of Maidenhead being shared. There were plenty of amazing photos of London… and even Windsor. But Maidenhead? Zilch. I appreciate that we don’t have as many iconic landmarks or famous places to visit. But as a community...

#lovemaidenhead – Join in with the community hashtag project

Putting Maidenhead on the Map

In 2016, I started tagging my photos of Maidenhead on Instagram with #lovemaidenhead and encouraged the community to get involved. The hashtag has now been used over 1000 times!  All you have to do is take a photo of something you love in and around Maidenhead, share it on Instagram and use the hashtag #lovemaidenhead. It doesn’t have to be a photographic masterpiece, just something you snap on your phone. There’s no need to limit yourself to things in the centre of town, it can be anything within a short distance of Maidenhead that you have the privilege to enjoy as a Maidenhead resident.  I’ll do a regular roundup of 9 photos with the #lovemaidenhead tag and share on my ‘Maidenhead Mum’ Instagram and Maidenhead Mum Facebook page.

If you want to see more images of Maidenhead, why not buy my Maidenhead calendar which has over 40 images of Maidenhead and includes all of the community dates for the rest of the year. Just click on the calendar section here on my site or visit the Craft Coop shop in town to buy one.

6 Easy Photography tips for Instagram

These days we all take photos with our smartphones, but the results can sometimes feel a bit disappointing. Especially when you look on photo sharing sites like Instagram which is full of bright vibrant images, lots of which are claimed to have been taken on a smartphone. Personally, I shoot on an iPhone 6, which you could say makes me an ‘iPhoneographer’ (it’s a real...

Costa Del Norden Farm

Considering my traditional grumble about Maidenhead is that ‘there’s nothing going on here’, we’ve been lucky this year in that we’ve had not one, but TWO beaches come to town. One for the Maidenhead Festival and one at Norden Farm. Admittedly the beaches are slightly more geared towards the kids than us parents (sadly there hasn’t been a cocktail bar at either) but remember that a happy...

Missing in Maidenhead…

You’ve all seen it. The toy hanging on the fence, the discarded snuggly lying on the pavement as you walk to work. I’d always found myself wondering about these left behind items- I’d look at it and hope that a family isn’t currently experiencing a moment of devastation and panic (and dealing with a screaming child) while they look for it. Well last week that...

The alternative baby list…

Last weekend I found out that two of my good friends are having a baby. Good times!  Having lived through all of that not so long ago its a funny sensation hearing news like that- even if they have no idea yet, you get a little tingle at the enormity of what lies ahead for them. At 11 weeks they’re a little way off pushchair...

Festival- Maidenhead style

So those of you that follow my Blog will know that I’m a little bit sceptical when it comes to things in the ‘metropolis’ of Maidenhead. After living in New York and London and coming from Birmingham originally, its fair to say that this Berkshire town doesn’t quite have the ‘bright lights big city’ thing going on. But, sometimes thats a really good thing. Sometimes...

A birthday gift that keeps on giving

We thought long and hard about what to buy Baby H for her first birthday. But it can be hard to think of first birthday present ideas. Researching first birthday present ideas I say ‘we’, actually I think I did most of the research and poring over Amazon reviews whilst my other half waited for me to provide suggestions, but thats how it tends to...

Learn with me

As an established blogger and photographer, I now also run short, informal training courses to help small businesses learn how to use content marketing and blogging to engage with their customers. And, seeing as photography has always been such a big part of my blog and my life, I also run sessions on how to take great photos with your smartphone, a question I get asked a lot!

You can find out more about either of these courses using the contact form or by emailing me: info@maidenheadmum.co.uk
