Making the most of life in Berkshire and beyond.

Jodie - Maidenhead Mum

Hi, thanks for visiting ‘Maidenhead Mum’

Here you’ll find posts and reviews about my life here in Maidenhead with two small children. I write about a broad selection of subjects, from family friendly restaurants, things to do at half term and even where to go on ‘date night’ in Maidenhead and the surrounding areas. I’m always looking for new ideas and experiences so please get in touch if you’d like to share your story on the blog.

Discovering nature in Maidenhead on The Green Way. Days Out Guide / Family Friendly / Maidenhead

Picture the scene: the sun was shining, the eldest was at school, and my husband and I were at home with our soon-to-be-two little boy. Regular readers of the blog will know that I’m a firm believer in ‘little adventures’: I love to plot day trips to beaches, castles, beautiful towns… anywhere to inspire the mind and lift the soul. (Especially if there is a...

#lovemaidenhead – Join in with the community hashtag project

Putting Maidenhead on the Map

In 2016, I started tagging my photos of Maidenhead on Instagram with #lovemaidenhead and encouraged the community to get involved. The hashtag has now been used over 1000 times!  All you have to do is take a photo of something you love in and around Maidenhead, share it on Instagram and use the hashtag #lovemaidenhead. It doesn’t have to be a photographic masterpiece, just something you snap on your phone. There’s no need to limit yourself to things in the centre of town, it can be anything within a short distance of Maidenhead that you have the privilege to enjoy as a Maidenhead resident.  I’ll do a regular roundup of 9 photos with the #lovemaidenhead tag and share on my ‘Maidenhead Mum’ Instagram and Maidenhead Mum Facebook page.

If you want to see more images of Maidenhead, why not buy my Maidenhead calendar which has over 40 images of Maidenhead and includes all of the community dates for the rest of the year. Just click on the calendar section here on my site or visit the Craft Coop shop in town to buy one.

Family friendly live music: Concertini reviewed.

I was recently invited along to a classical music concert at Norden Farm. Not a traditional one though! This was a concert with a difference as it wasn’t a ‘sit-in-your-seats’ kind of concert but instead, one where children are encouraged to chill out, dance or even just colour in. Concertini is definitely something a little bit special and was a great way to spend my...

10 tips to rock your own Photo Walk

Last week I had the chance to join in with a Photo Walk in Shoreditch as part of the ‘Blogtacular’ blogging event. It’s an event that I’ve watched from the social media sidelines before and have always been keen to attend. It attracts bloggers and creatives from all over the world to be inspired, share ideas and make connections. I’ll write more about the event in...

300 reasons to #lovemaidenhead

As we have suddenly landed in June I thought it was high time that I published an update on the #lovemaidenhead photography project that I started back in January. What is #lovemaidenhead? In case you’ve not heard of the project, it’s a community based photo project that I have created to help Maidenhead get the recognition it deserves for being a great place to live. The idea...

Create a ‘wow’ wedding with the Craft Coop Wedding Event

With Maidenhead going through a period of change with the imminent Crossrail development, it’s quite common to see empty units appear in the Nicholson shopping centre. But if you’ve been in town recently, you may have spotted something a little bit different in the window of the old Fineweave Carpet shop (round the corner from Clarks). Bespoke, unique, and made by local crafters and businesses,...

6 Networking tips for Newbie entrepreneurs

In March on International Women’s Day, I went along to a Maidenhead Business Girls meet up to meet some more of the Maidenhead Business Girls. It was a double celebration as it was also the second birthday of the group and it made me realise that I had been a member for a whole 12 months. Looking back I remember that I was so nervous about...

Learn with me

As an established blogger and photographer, I now also run short, informal training courses to help small businesses learn how to use content marketing and blogging to engage with their customers. And, seeing as photography has always been such a big part of my blog and my life, I also run sessions on how to take great photos with your smartphone, a question I get asked a lot!

You can find out more about either of these courses using the contact form or by emailing me:
