Sharing my experiences and adventures in Berkshire and beyond

Jodie - Maidenhead Mum

Hi, thanks for visiting ‘Maidenhead Mum’

Here you’ll find posts and reviews about my life here in Maidenhead with two small children. I write about a broad selection of subjects, from family friendly restaurants, things to do at half term and even where to go on ‘date night’ in Maidenhead and the surrounding areas. I’m always looking for new ideas and experiences so please get in touch if you’d like to share your story on the blog.

Learn with me

As an established blogger and photographer, I now also run short, informal training courses to help small businesses learn how to use content marketing and blogging to engage with their customers. And, seeing as photography has always been such a big part of my blog and my life, I also run sessions on how to take great photos with your smartphone, a question I get asked a lot!

You can find out more about either of these courses using the contact form or by emailing me: info@maidenheadmum.co.uk

#lovemaidenhead – Join in with the community hashtag project

Putting Maidenhead on the Map

I’d like as many people in Maidenhead to get involved. All you have to do is take a photo of something you love in and around Maidenhead, share it on Instagram and use the hashtag #lovemaidenhead. It doesn’t have to be a photographic masterpiece, just something you snap on your phone. There’s no need to limit yourself to things in the centre of town, it can be anything within a short distance of Maidenhead that you have the privilege to enjoy as a Maidenhead resident.  I’ll do a regular roundup of 9 photos with the #lovemaidenhead tag and share on my ‘Maidenhead Mum’ Instagram and Maidenhead Mum Facebook page.

Half term in Maidenhead

October Half Term in Maidenhead. This October will be the last half term that I can go into ‘hibernation’! Seeing as I have a pre-schooler, Half Term for me usually means that we see our usual local parks and recreational spaces get twice as busy as usual. We tend to chill out at home rather than battle with the crowds. But, just because I don’t...

Burnham Beeches by Balance Bike

It’s Autumn. Quite possibly the most photogenic month of the year. Add in a Little Lady that has just discovered the joy of riding her balance bike and a photographer mum with a new camera and new smartphone to play with and it’s been hard to keep us both indoors. Yep, the Humphries girls have been on tour, discovering pretty parks and bike friendly paths in...

Keeping baby busy: Bach to Baby comes to Maidenhead

The bewildering world of babies Becoming a parent for the first time can be a confusing thing. Choosing a unique, but not too unique baby name? Impossible! Selecting a pushchair and figuring out how to collapse it one handed? Stressful! Buying a car seat (and fixing it!)? Pretty tough! Even mastering all of the poppers on baby grows in the middle of the night with a writhing...

6 reasons that a Clubbercise class is better than a night out.

If Kim Kardashian’s butt is guilty of ‘having broken the internet’ then yesterday an 18 second video clip of an exercise class at Lowbrow Academy broke my Facebook. Regardless of age, location, mum or not mum, my friends were all in total awe of the idea of dancing in the dark, completely sober with glowsticks on a Monday night. Aka ‘Clubbercise’. Here’s the video:  ...

Family Friendly Review: The Walnut Tree

Picture the scene: Its a lovely sunny day, you have friends and relatives coming to visit from afar that you haven’t seen for a while and they fancy a spot of lunch. Pre-children this would have meant finding a charming little pub, ideally with a beer garden and you could while away the afternoon with a glass of wine or two, some food and enjoy...

A Gadget Mum’s guide to the September 2015 Apple Event.

Last night saw the latest round of product announcements from Apple. Seeing as both myself and Mr H have an interest in gadgets and technology it’s become a bit of a tradition that we live stream the event and watch with friends (through the Apple TV of course!) You may scoff, but I’d much rather this than be forced to watch endless amounts of sport and...
